On September 25th the Canadian Chamber Choir will meet up in the Deer Lake airport to kick off a week-long tour of ‘the Rock’, which will celebrate the choir’s first-ever visit to Newfoundland and Labrador.

Under the invitation of Gros Morne Summer Music, the tour begins in Corner Brook with a brief series of community outreach performances dubbed Project Music Rx. This unique program will have CCC singers performing in various senior living residences and palliative care facilities. An public concert on September 26th will feature the CCC share the stage with local choral enthusiasts from the Corner Brook area.

Then it’s off to Gros Morne National Park, where the CCC will give a concert Sunday September 27th at St. Patrick’s church in Woody Point. The choir will spend the next day and a half doing recording performance videos both in St. Patrick’s church and also out on the dramatic landscapes of this world-famous park.

Next the choir will board a coach and head east to Gander. The CCC has been invited by Beyond the Overpass to spend two very busy days giving workshops to four different groups of youth and community singers. A joint public concert will be also held on September 30th that will feature Alta Voce, a Gander-based chamber choir under the direction of Leslie Hewlett.

October 1st the CCC heads to St. John’s where it has been invited to work with the renowned Shallaway Youth Choir. Then Friday October 2nd will see the choir working with choral students at Memorial University before taking part in an exciting evening concert with Lady Cove and Newman Sound, two of Newfoundland’s finest choral ensembles.

The tour culminates with an appearance at the Singing Network’s Symposium of Singing and Song, taking place at Memorial University. Julia Davids has been selected not only as one of the Keynote Presenters, but will spend October 2nd working with youth and adult singers for ChoirFest SING!, the interactive portion of the Symposium where CCC members will also join in and work with participants.
