The CCC is celebrating an exciting new chapter in its history with the development of a mentorship program for young singers from coast to coast. We have invited British Columbia-based soprano Anna-Marie Ryan to join us as our first-ever Apprentice Singer, participating in the upcoming tour of Manitoba (September 21-29) and assisting our Artistic Team in shaping the parameters of this program as we head into a busy 2019 season of touring and recording. We are thrilled to welcome Anna-Marie to the CCC family, and in an effort to get to know her a little better we’ve asked her 10 questions about…

The Canadian Chamber Choir is excited to announce its upcoming tour of Winnipeg and Brandon, Manitoba this September 21 through 29. Previous visits to the province were made in 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2009, the latter of which featured the recording sessions for our debut album, In Good Company. After nearly 10 years, it’s time to come back! “The CCC is delighted to be returning to Manitoba,” says Artistic Director Dr. Julia Davids. “Many of us remember fondly our very first concert, held in Brandon seventeen years ago! We’re excited to be reconnecting with good friends and fans from previous tours.”…

The Canadian Chamber Choir is thrilled to announce that its second CD entitled ‘Sacred Reflections of Canada – A Canadian Mass‘ has been nominated for a Juno Award in the category of Classical Album of the Year: Vocal or Choral Performance. Released in September of 2015, the album was produced by Jeff Reilly and features 17 Canadian composers whose works were curated by CCC artistic director Julia Davids to create a composite Canadian mass. The nomination marks a huge milestone for the choir, which was formed over 15 years ago and has toured determinedly to almost every corner of Canada…

We departed from our Kingston billets, and headed to Perth! We started our Perth excursion with lunch at the wonderful Crossroads Tea Room where we had the pleasure of meeting Perth’s Town Crier! Afterward, we got to sing with the kids at St. John Separate School. We sang Balfour’s “Vision Chant, ” for them, and after asking them to reflect on how the piece made them feel…we received many different variations of “being chased,” much our amusement. The day wrapped up with a wonderful concert at St. John the Baptist Parish.

We had a wonderful concert at St. George’s Cathedral! What a beautiful space, and what wonderful people to sing for. The Kingston Choral society took such good care of us. We especially have Jean Wilson to thank for her tremendous hospitality (such good food!) To thank her for her work, we presented her with a copy of our CD “In Good Company”

We rehearsed and sang for about 10 hours today!  One of our Sopranos (Christina Murray…get well soon!), fell ill before the tour, so our pinch hitter soprano, Kim Denis, joined us today. Funny stories, great camaraderie, and wonderful singing was had all around! Tomorrow we have our Kingston concert at St. George’s Cathedral. Be sure to come if you’re in the area! Info is below Venue: St. George’s Cathedral, 270 King Street East, Kingston, ON Time: 7:30PM Tickets: $20 advance, $25 door, $10 students – Ticket available at St. George’s office at 613-548-4617 or [email protected]

The CCC has officially flown in, and are getting comfortable with the wonderful Kingston Choral society! We arrived and started rehearsal on February 8th, at 7pm. The wonderful people at St. George Anglican Church provided the space for us. To thank them for hosting us, we lend our voice to their worship the following morning. After the service, we rehearsed…then had the pleasure to give a workshop to the Kingston Choral Society! What a wonderful and receptive group of singers! We had a blast listening to their take on Ola Gjeilo’s “The Ground,” and enjoyed singing a bit of Mendelsohn’s…

The Canadian Chamber Choir is pleased to announce the appointments of Dr. Joel Tranquilla as Associate Conductor, and Jeff Enns as Composer-in-Residence for the ensemble. Both have been integral members of the CCC for a number of years, with Tranquilla serving as a singer, accompanist, and assistant conductor, and Enns lending numerous compositions to both concert programs and workshops as well as singing in the choir. They are the first to hold these newly created positions. Dr. Julia Davids, the Canadian Chamber Choir’s Artistic Director since 2003, spearheaded the decision to have Tranquilla and Enns formally recognized as members of…
