We’re back out on the road this winter for workshop/performance residencies in Windsor and London with Sherryl Sewepagaham. Join us at one of the public events listed below!
January 10 – 13, 2023
In residence at the University of Windsor
CCC Artistic Director Dr. Julia Davids, the CCC singers and Sherryl Sewepagaham will work with students from the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Education and School of Creative Arts. This engagement includes open rehearsals for students; workshops with music educators and conductors; solo and collaborative performances, as well as a session with Theresa Sims (Mohawk Elder and Song Carrier.) Meanwhile, CCC Associate Conductor Dr. Joel Tranquilla will serve as the guest clinician for the Windsor Choral Festival, presented by Windsor Classic Chorale. Tranquilla is the previous Artistic Director of Windsor Classic Chorale, Chorusmaster of Windsor Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and Director of Choirs at the University of Windsor, and founded the Windsor Choral Festival in 2011.

Windsor Choral Festival Concert Performance
featuring choral groups from across Windsor-Essex singing repertoire selected by their music directors. The choirs will join voices for a massed choral finale of a newly commissioned choral work by Canadian composer, Sarah Quartel, conducted by Dr. Joel Tranquilla – guest clinician at the 2023 Windsor Choral Festival. The Canadian Chamber Choir and Sherryl Sewepagaham will perform three selections.

CCC Artistic Director Dr. Julia Davids, the CCC singers and Sherryl Sewepagaham will work with students from Western University’s Althouse Faculty of Education and Don Wright Faculty of Music. This engagement includes open rehearsals; collaborations with Western University Singers, workshops with music education students, graduate conducting students and graduate music students; meetings with Indigenous Elders, as well as a lecture-performance at Wampum Learning Lodge. Additional outreach activities include workshops with Amabile Choirs of London and London Waldorf School.
