Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Elizabeth began piano lessons at the age of six, and singing in choirs shortly after that. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Western University, a Master of Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a PhD in Music Education from Western University.  A registered psychotherapist and certified music therapist, Liz has extensive experience working in mental health treatment settings with children, adolescents, and adults. In 2020, Liz was appointed Assistant Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University, where she coordinates the Bachelor of Music Therapy program. From 2017-2020, Liz was Laurier’s first “Music Therapist-in-Residence”, a role that encompassed teaching and supervising music therapy students, conducting practice-based research, and working clinically at Homewood Health Centre, a mental health and addictions facility in Guelph, Ontario. From 2012-2015, she was the choral conductor for El Sistema Aeolian in London, Ontario, a program that strives to provide inclusive music-making for all children. Liz holds an ARCT (Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto) in piano performance. To fill up her musical soul, Liz loves playing and singing pop tunes at open mics and singing with the Canadian Chamber Choir.
