The Canadian Chamber Choir (CCC) is thrilled to announce its return to Saskatchewan Feb. 3-11, 2o18 for a series of engagements in Regina, Marysburg and Saskatoon. In fact, we’ll be there throughout “Choral Week” as designated by the Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport in the province. Previous visits to the Saskatchewan in 2005 and 2010 yielded fruitful collaborations and fond memories. “We are looking forward to collaborating again with Kamala and the Saskatoon Children’s Choir – two organizations that are doing great things for the young people of Saskatchewan,” says CCC artistic director, Dr. Julia Davids. “We were so taken by the work…

Welcome back! Let’s get you caught up on Day 2 and 3. After sleeping in on Monday morning… at least by CCC standards, we headed to the beautiful North Park University campus where Julia works as Director of Choral Activities. With our biggest concerts still ahead of us, there was plenty of repertoire left to rehearse and we got right to work on some of the tougher pieces. By midday we were in full recital mode, performing for the NPU School of Music and then leading a rehearsal with two of Julia’s choirs. We also had four student conductors take…

Welcome to the CCC blog, where we’ll do our darnedest to bring you up to speed on our epic adventures in Chicago this week! We’re only one day in and there’s already so much to tell you, so let’s hop to it. Bright and early, we hit the ground running downtown (metaphorically speaking)… along with 40,000 other people (literally speaking). Pylons were going up and traffic was being diverted for the Chicago Marathon just as we filed into the Fourth Presbyterian sanctuary on the Magnificent Mile. Performing a selection of compositions from our 2016 release, Sacred Reflections, this was our…

The rumours are true! The Canadian Chamber Choir will be heading to the American Midwest October 7-14 for our first international tour. For those who aren’t aware, the Windy City has been CCC artistic director Dr. Julia Davids’ home base since 2002, and we’re eagerly looking forward to meeting and collaborating with several of her local ensembles while we’re there. She writes: “I am so excited to welcome the…

Drumroll please….! The winner of the CCC’s Canada 150 Composition Competition is up-and-coming Calgary composer Garrett Krause, for his beautiful new piece entitled “The Maple”. The competition received 28 choral compositions from across Canada, and narrowing such a high-calibre field was a challenging task for the CCC artistic team and panel of guest judges. However a winning composition was finally chosen and the CCC congratulates Garrett on his outstanding submission. “Garrett’s composition is a piece that offers moving imagery and a rewarding musical challenge for choirs,” says artistic director Julia Davids. “We’re excited to have it published by Cypress Choral Music as…
