The CCC is pleased to announce that Toronto-based music educator and conductor Mark Ramsay has been chosen as the Conducting Fellow for the August 2016 tour of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Mr. Ramsay will work closely with artistic director Julia Davids and associate conductor Joel Tranquilla and will rehearse and conduct a portion of the concert program repertoire during the tour. Mark spent 10 years as a public school music educator in Summerside, PEI, and is now pursuing doctoral music studies at the University of Toronto under the guidance of Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt. He was an apprentice conductor…

The Canadian Chamber Choir is now accepting applications for the 2016 Conducting Fellow Program. The CCC will be touring Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island from August 12 to 22, 2016, and will offer an exciting opportunity for an emerging or established choral conductor to work closely with Julia Davids and the CCC Artistic Team to rehearse and perform selected repertoire (and possibly sing with the choir), assist in workshops, and generally take in the experience of being ‘on the road’ with the CCC. Interested applicants should visit the Conducting Fellow page for complete information. Applications are open until April…

Thanks to the generous support of over 200 donors, the Canadian Chamber choir successfully raised $26, 510 from April 7 to May 15, 2015 that will go towards recording a brand new CD of all Canadian music. We were truly amazed by the outpouring of support, and extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who so kindly offered a financial contribution that will make this project possible! Entitled A Canadian Mass: Sacred Reflections of Canada, the new album will be recorded in Kitchener from May 14 to May 18, 2015 and will feature 19 works by 17 different Canadian composers – such…

You might think trying to fund raise $30000 in thirty days is a rather ambitious goal. Well, you’d be right! However, this is exactly what the Canadian Chamber Choir is hoping to achieve between April 7 and May 7. The CCC is asking for support in order to cover the costs of making a brand new CD. The recording project will take place from May 14 to 18, 2015 in Kitchener, ON and the new album will be released in conjunction with a tour of Newfoundland this September. Taking a cue from crowdfunding sites such as Kickstarter, the CCC is…

Another fantastic CCC tour has come to an end, and although it took our Maritimes-dwelling members just a weeeee bit longer than anticipated to get home, everyone arrived back safe and sound! Actually, Christopher Lane was marooned in Montreal for several days while Michael and Tristan enjoyed 24+ hours aboard Via Rail’s highly-touted ‘Halifax Bullet’. We met many wonderful people and choral singers, got the chance to sing in some incredibly beautiful spaces, and explored some gorgeous parts of Canada. It was inspiring as usual to watch Julia and Joel share their expertise and love of music with the talented…

We departed from our Kingston billets, and headed to Perth! We started our Perth excursion with lunch at the wonderful Crossroads Tea Room where we had the pleasure of meeting Perth’s Town Crier! Afterward, we got to sing with the kids at St. John Separate School. We sang Balfour’s “Vision Chant, ” for them, and after asking them to reflect on how the piece made them feel…we received many different variations of “being chased,” much our amusement. The day wrapped up with a wonderful concert at St. John the Baptist Parish.

We had a wonderful concert at St. George’s Cathedral! What a beautiful space, and what wonderful people to sing for. The Kingston Choral society took such good care of us. We especially have Jean Wilson to thank for her tremendous hospitality (such good food!) To thank her for her work, we presented her with a copy of our CD “In Good Company”

We rehearsed and sang for about 10 hours today!  One of our Sopranos (Christina Murray…get well soon!), fell ill before the tour, so our pinch hitter soprano, Kim Denis, joined us today. Funny stories, great camaraderie, and wonderful singing was had all around! Tomorrow we have our Kingston concert at St. George’s Cathedral. Be sure to come if you’re in the area! Info is below Venue: St. George’s Cathedral, 270 King Street East, Kingston, ON Time: 7:30PM Tickets: $20 advance, $25 door, $10 students – Ticket available at St. George’s office at 613-548-4617 or [email protected]

The CCC has officially flown in, and are getting comfortable with the wonderful Kingston Choral society! We arrived and started rehearsal on February 8th, at 7pm. The wonderful people at St. George Anglican Church provided the space for us. To thank them for hosting us, we lend our voice to their worship the following morning. After the service, we rehearsed…then had the pleasure to give a workshop to the Kingston Choral Society! What a wonderful and receptive group of singers! We had a blast listening to their take on Ola Gjeilo’s “The Ground,” and enjoyed singing a bit of Mendelsohn’s…
