Meet the CCC’s first Apprentice Singer: Anna-Marie Ryan

The CCC is celebrating an exciting new chapter in its history with the development of a mentorship program for young singers from coast to coast. We have invited British Columbia-based soprano Anna-Marie Ryan to join us as our first-ever Apprentice Singer, participating in the upcoming tour of Manitoba (September 21-29) and assisting our Artistic Team in shaping the parameters of this program as we head into a busy 2019 season of touring and recording. CCC announces Manitoba tour this fall

The Canadian Chamber Choir is excited to announce its upcoming tour of Winnipeg and Brandon, Manitoba this September 21 through 29. Previous visits to the province were made in 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2009, the latter of which featured the recording sessions for our debut album, In Good Company. CCC Earns Juno Nomination for ‘Sacred Reflections’

The Canadian Chamber Choir is thrilled to announce that its second CD entitled ‘Sacred Reflections of Canada – A Canadian Mass‘ has been nominated for a Juno Award in the category of Classical Album of the Year: Vocal or Choral Performance. Released in September of 2015, the album was produced by Jeff Reilly and features 17 Canadian composers whose works were curated by CCC artistic director Julia Davids to create a composite Canadian mass. Kicking Off 2016 in Southwestern Ontario – January 10-17

Happy New Year one and all! We are geared up to hit the ground running early in 2016 with a January tour that will take us to some of our favourite places in southwestern Ontario. Two big joint concerts with Prima and Primus of the Amabile Choirs of London, plus the Windsor Classic Chorale are sure to be highlights, and the complete tour itinerary can be found here. Conducting Fellow Selected for Upcoming Tour

Congratulations to Nova Scotia conductor and music educator Heather Fraser who has been chosen to be the Conducting Fellow for the Canadian Chamber Choir’s upcoming tour of Newfoundland. The CCC will visit Newfoundland for the first time from Sept 24 to Oct 4, 2015. The Canadian Chamber Choir’s Conducting Fellow Program offers emerging or established Canadian choral conductors a unique opportunity to hone their skills through the preparation and rehearsal of challenging repertoire under the leadership of CCC Artistic Director Dr. Julia Davids. A founding member of the Canadian Chamber Choir and its Artistic Director since 2003, Dr. Julia Davids has led the ensemble on concert and workshop tours of every province, and conducted four recordings including their Juno-nominated 2015 release, Sacred Reflections. Born in London, Ontario, she grew up singing in the Amabile Youth Singers, the Ontario Youth Choir, and the National Youth Choir, for whom she was the first Apprentice Conductor. She is currently the Stephen J. Hendrickson Professor and Director of Choral Activities at North Park University in Chicago, Illinois. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of choral conductors and committed to giving emerging and established Canadian composers a forum for their work. Read More

Dr. Joel Tranquilla is a conductor and music educator noted for his versatile musicianship and creative programming. Associate Conductor of the Canadian Chamber Choir since 2015, Joel also recently returned home to the Maritimes to assume the positions of Artistic Director of the Halifax Camerata Singers and Chorus Master of Symphony Nova Scotia. Formative choral experiences include touring with the American Boychoir as a boy soprano and singing as a member of the Nova Scotia and National Youth Choirs. He holds degrees from Mount Allison University, the University of Michigan, and Michigan State University where his doctoral research was in the area of Canadian choral-orchestral works. Read More
